DrawTools is designed to work with any Macintosh with a 68020, 68030, 68040 or PowerPC processor. To use DrawTools, Adobe Illustrator version 5.0, 5.5 or 6.0, Macromedia FreeHand version 5.0.1, 5.5 and Mac OS version 7.1 or later is required. PCI PowerMac computers will need FreeHand version 5.0.2 or later.

  20. Installing DrawTools
  21. Run the installer on the DrawTools disk by double-clicking on the installer icon. You can install DrawTools for both FreeHand and Illustrator separately before quitting the Installer.

  23. Registering DrawTools
  24. Launch Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia FreeHand. The first time you choose any DrawTools filter, you will be requested to serialize and register the software. Please enter the serial number located on the DrawTools disk label.

  26. Please register using one of the built-in electronic registration methods. If you do not have a modem, fax/modem, or printer, you may fill out the registration card in the back of the manual.

  28. DrawTools and Adobe Illustrator
  29. The DrawTools installer installs the following folders and files into the Adobe Illustrator Plug-ins Folder.
  30. DrawTools Shape
  31. DrawTools Move
  32. DrawTools Color

  34. DrawTools and Macromedia FreeHand
  35. The DrawTools installer installs the following folders and files into the Macromedia FreeHand Xtras Folder.
  36. DrawTools Shape for FreeHand
  37. DrawTools Color
  38. (DrawTools Move functions are not applicable in FreeHand and therefore not installed).

  40. FreeHand User Notes
  41. •  Although DrawTools cannot affect gradients under FreeHand, you can always use blends. However blends have to be ungrouped before applying DrawTools color effects to them.
  42. •  Using the Color Mixer/Replace Colors filter on gradient objects will produce erroneous color values. However, this is harmless because gradient colors cannot be edited.
  43. •  Some placed EPS files can be affected by DrawTools under FreeHand, if the appropriate option under the preferences is enabled (Preferences:Importing/Exporting: "Convert editable EPS when placed").

  45. DrawTools Sample Curves 
  46. A DrawTools Samples folder is installed on the root level of the hard drive containing the parent applications. Included in the Samples folder are predefined CMYK curve files, IHS curve files, and sample color sets. A note file is included to explain what can be accomplished with these sample curves.
